Dina's update - September 17th
Hi again everyone, today I have some good advice for you all if you want to run marathons and super ultras. Thank you to the lovely vet who asked about our training regime. This is the routine that keeps me fit (and Carl too)!
- Diet for me, raw egg
breakie with a chicken neck and milk or water at 6am. This is followed by a 1 hour run and then a small rest. - To train your slow human, have a good run mid-morning with a ring or ball to wrestle with. This teaches hunting and dragging (especially good practice for road kill!) and keeps us both active. I really enjoy this activity.
- Let your human have a much needed rest. After you have a raw or cooked wild kill for lunch, hunt for at least 1 hour in the local scrub to keep up your fitness (no cane toads though).
- Beauty sleep is important for owner and pet (especially if your owner is a pensioner). We have a nap around 2:30pm.
- We finish our day at around 6pm with more kill or chase games (and evening TV for Carl).
- When out running let your owner be pulled along on a 4ft taut lead. When we are close to road traffic though we use a harness and very short lead and Carl keeps my head up all the time. Never let your owner wear an ipod near the traffic, as you need to listen very carefully - your life depends on it.
Hope this helps you along - we would love to meet you on the road someday!
Lots of love and bites
